Posted July 27, 2010 by Raw Talent in Blog | 1 comment

Video has exploded on the net. It’s always been a popular medium but now video represents over 25% of all traffic on the Internet.

There is no better way of showcasing your talent and communicating with a worldwide audience if you perform than video. But don’t just make a video and upload it to Youtube and hope for the best. Lets look at a several ways you can maximize the number of view of your video.

Title & Content

Firstly to ensure your video gets found use a title that will be easily found for your genre. Secondly if you have a website add the URL to the content so it is the first and the last thing viewers read. Then write some content describing the video making use of your main keywords. Finally, add 5 or 6 tags or keywords.

Tubemogul

There are dozens of video hosting sites besides Youtube. Head over to Tubemogul and open a free account. Now upload your video once but syndicate it to at least ten sites in the same tame it takes to upload it to one.

Social Bookmarking

Now your videos will have a lot more chances of being found. Visit each site and bookmark your video with popular social bookmarking sites like Mixx, Digg and Stumbleupon and add to RSS feeds for even greater distribution.

Now lets look at the video itself. How long will your video last? How will you engage your audience? How will you get them to come back and see more videos you upload?

Video Length

It’s generally best to keep the length off your videos short as possible. 1-3 minutes is a good length for a video. Although Youtube cap videos at a maximum 10 minutes you should rarely make your video the maximum length allowed. It’s a better idea to split your video into 2 bite size cuts.

Video Content

You could upload a performance video, they are always popular, but try to think out of the box. Bring something new, engaging, entertaining or controversial to your audience to create a buzz. Then your audience will recommend it to their friends and your audience will grow.

Frequency

Upload your videos at regular intervals so your audience knows when to expect new content. A good way to encourage viewers to comeback and see more of your videos is to create a series, a video diary or vlog.

These are a few things that will help your video stand out and for your voice to be heard. If you want to discover more about video marketing you should look at online videos with high viewing figures and try and discover how they achieved them or Google ‘video marketing’ for more hints and tips.
